High Definition (HD)

High Definition (HD) is the biggest thing to happen to TV since the world first saw colour broadcasts in the early 1950s. It is designed to deliver breathtakingly life-like pictures which will truly deliver that sense of 'being there.'

HD TV signals carry far more picture information than conventional broadcasts. An HD TV picture is made up of 1080 horizontal lines compared to conventional PAL pictures that are made up of around 625 horizontal lines, this means greatly enhanced detail and very high resolution.

Panasonic FULL HD Products

Panasonic embraces the future of Full High Definition 1080P with the launch of the 103-Inch, TH-65PX600, PZ70, PZ700 Series plasma panel's and the new LCD TX-37LZD70 not forgetting the company's first Blu-Ray player DMP-BD10. The SA-XR700 7.1 channel Digital Amplifier and SB-TP1000 Virtual Centre Speaker Technology Speaker Package are simultaneously launching to allow consumers to fully experience the high level audio performance of the Blu-ray Disc Player.

The term 'Full HD 1080' represents the 1,080 lines of vertical resolution which appears on the screen with the letter p standing for progressive scan (the image is not interlaced). Normally the term takes the form of a widescreen aspect ratio of 16:9, incorparating a horizontal resolution of 1920 pixels. This creates a frame resolution of 1920?1080 (2,073,600 pixels).

Blu-Ray The Format of the Future

Blu-Ray is rapidly being seen to be the obvious choice for the future of HD content delivery. Disc capacities of up to 50GB are necessary to store full length feature films in full 7.1 channel audio. A Blu-Ray dual layer disc offers 50GB of storage. Hollywood supporters include 20th Century Fox, Warner Brothers, Sony Pictures, Walt Disney, Paramount and Lionsgate.

Matsushita can also clearly see 200GB discs being manufactured in the future. Hollywood has invested heavily in order to change from DVD to Blu-Ray software production. These major studios have announced title releases with the very first European release being available for this Christmas to co-incide with DMP-BD10 launch and up to around 80 more titles set to follow by Spring 2007.

DMP-BD10 Blu-Ray Disc Player

Panasonic's Clear Mission with it's first ever BD Player has been to produce the ultimate hardware capable of delivering the best picture and sound quality that Blu-Ray as a format is capable of delivering. There are no compromises in this goal.

Highest Picture Delivery
The processing power of the BD10s, P4HD processor and 297 KHz 14 bit Video DAC is higher than that available on any previous top-end DVD player. It's management of motion, colour gradation, diagonal and contrast processing is vastly advanced, and as a result delivers the most perfect picture that has ever been delivered on a domestic playback device. Best Picture quality is not just reserved for use in playback of BD discs. Standard Definition DVDs can also be up-scaled to 1080P for optimum performance on the Full HD Panel.

Highest Audio Delivery
Likewise the Audio capability, outputting 7.1channels discrete, is heightened by the use of highest grade audio components and virtual battery operation. Panasonic's aim with DMP-BD10 is to deliver the best in Audio playback through all standard media including BD, DVD and of course CD.

Ease of Use
Committed to ensuring consumers have pleasure in using our products, Panasonic includes HDAVI control on BD10 for simple operation and reduction in remote control useage when used with Viera HDMI enabled Panels.

SA-XR700 7.1ch Receiver for BD

The SA-XR700 7.1channel Digital Amplifier represents the ultimate in Digital Amp technology. Besides offering perfect support for multi-channel audio, this amp boasts Panasonic Black-Box "riple Amp" technology for 2 channel use. In 2 channel operation, each of the front left and right speakers can be driven by 3 of the 7 available amps. The resulting depth and richness of sound is comparable to that achieved on the best analogue amps, yet the power efficiency is optimised and heat output reduced to an absolute minimum.

SB-TP1000

SB-TP1000 speaker package is designed both for exceptional sound and also with empathy in design for the large screen flat-panel owner. The components and construction dutifully match the construction of the DMP-BD10 and SA-XR700. Additionally Panasonic launch Twin-Centre technology, allowing a centre speaker sound image to be created from just the front right and left speakers. The need for a centre speaker is eliminated and the clean, minimal lines of the plasma panel design can be fully appreciated.
